LEGAL / PRIVACY
Last updated: July 21, 2026
Bluetune is a private messaging, calls and meetings app published by BiggerBlueButton ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information Bluetune collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.
Bluetune is built with your privacy in mind: your messages and calls are encrypted, and we collect only the limited information the app needs to work. By using Bluetune, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

02WHAT WE COLLECT
Information We Collect
We collect only what Bluetune needs to work. Your conversations are encrypted, and we limit the information we hold about you.
Account and profile information
When you create an account you provide a phone number, which we verify with a one-time code. You may add a profile name, photo and an optional "about" note. This information is used to set up your account and to let the people you message recognize you.
Contacts
With your permission, Bluetune uses the phone numbers in your device's address book to show you which of your contacts use Bluetune and to let you start conversations. We do not use your contacts for advertising, and you can use Bluetune without granting contact access.
Messages, media and files
Your messages, voice notes, photos, files and other shared content are encrypted and are stored on your device. To deliver a message we hold it on our servers in encrypted form only until it is delivered, after which it is removed.
Calls and meetings
One-to-one and group voice and video calls are carried over WebRTC and are encrypted. Bluetune also offers built-in BigBlueButton meetings; see "Meetings, Recordings & AI Features" below for how meeting data is handled.
Live location
If you choose to share your live location, it is shared only with the chat you select and only for the duration you pick (for example 15 minutes, 1 hour, or 8 hours), after which sharing stops automatically. Live-location sharing is off unless you turn it on.
Usage and diagnostic data
To keep Bluetune reliable and secure, we collect limited technical information such as your device type and operating system, app version, general connection information (including IP address, which we use to route traffic and combat abuse), and crash and performance diagnostics. This data does not reveal the content of your communications.
Linked devices
When you pair a desktop or tablet as a Linked Device, we store the information needed to keep that device securely connected to your account and to sync your conversations.
03ENCRYPTION
Encryption
Messages, voice notes, calls and shared media in Bluetune are protected with encryption. We use encryption to help keep your content private while it travels between devices and our systems.
Some information is necessarily visible to us in order to deliver the service — such as your phone number and the technical routing information described above — and, where you use them, certain features (including the AI features described below) require us to process the related content.
04HOW WE USE IT
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the Service: register your account, deliver your messages and calls, and keep your Linked Devices in sync.
- Keep Bluetune secure: verify accounts, prevent spam, fraud and abuse, and protect users and the integrity of the Service.
- Support you: respond to your questions and troubleshoot issues you report.
- Improve reliability: diagnose crashes and performance problems using aggregated diagnostic data.
- Communicate with you: send you service-related notices, such as security or account information.
- Comply with the law: meet our legal obligations and respond to valid legal requests.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use the content of your communications for advertising.
06MEETINGS & AI
Meetings, Recordings & AI Features
Meetings and recordings
Bluetune includes built-in BigBlueButton meetings that you can start instantly or join by code or QR. A meeting is recorded only when recording is enabled for that room. Recordings, transcripts and meeting reports are accessible to the account owner and are not shared with any third party without the account owner's permission.
AI assistant, transcripts and summaries
Please note: using Bluetune's AI features involves processing your content. When you send a message to the AI assistant, or ask for a transcript or summary of a recorded meeting, the relevant content is processed by our AI systems (and, where applicable, our AI processing providers) so we can generate a response, transcript or summary. We use this content only to provide the feature you requested and to keep it working — not to build advertising profiles. If you do not want content processed this way, do not use the AI assistant or request AI transcripts and summaries.
07DATA REGIONS
Where Your Data Is Processed
Bluetune's infrastructure operates from data regions in Germany, the USA/Canada and Singapore. Depending on your location and how you connect, your information may be processed in one or more of these regions, which may be outside your country and have different data-protection laws.
Where we transfer personal data internationally, we put appropriate safeguards in place — such as Standard Contractual Clauses — and take reasonable steps to ensure your data is handled securely and in line with this Privacy Policy.
08RETENTION
Data Retention
Your messages and media live on your device; you control how long you keep them, and deleting a conversation removes it from that device. Undelivered messages are held on our servers in encrypted form only until they are delivered, and are then removed.
We keep account information (such as your phone number and profile) for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your account information and stop the delivery of your messages, except where we are required to retain limited information to meet a legal obligation, resolve disputes, or enforce our terms.
09YOUR RIGHTS
Your Rights & Choices
You are in control of your information in Bluetune. You can edit your profile, manage who can see your last seen, online status and profile photo, block or unblock contacts with the per-contact blocklist, manage your Linked Devices, and delete your account at any time from the app.
If you are in the EEA or the UK, you also have the following rights under the GDPR:
- Access
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
- Erasure
- Ask us to delete your data, subject to legal limits.
- Restriction
- Ask us to limit how we use your data.
- Portability
- Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection
- Object to certain processing of your data.
- Withdraw consent
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior processing.
To exercise any of these rights, contact our Data-Protection Officer at privacy@biggerbluebutton.com. We process personal data on the legal bases of performing our contract with you, our legitimate interest in operating a secure service, your consent, and compliance with legal obligations, as required by Article 6 of the GDPR. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
10SECURITY
How We Protect Your Data
We protect your communications with encryption and use technical and organizational measures to safeguard the limited data we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keeping your device and account credentials secure is an important part of protecting your data.
11CHILDREN
Children's Privacy
Bluetune is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country, such as 16 in parts of the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.
12THIRD PARTIES
Third-Party Links & Services
Bluetune relies on your device's app store and operating system and may contain links or content leading to services we do not operate. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, and we encourage you to review their policies.
13CHANGES
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date above, and — where appropriate — notify you within the app. Your continued use of Bluetune after an update means you accept the revised policy.
